Express do have the facility to request a "Read receipt",
but the recipient is given the option of sending the receipt.
Many people don't. Anyway, you may not want recipients to know that you know, not only that they've read your email, but when. This brilliant, inexpensive little program sends you an email the minute the recipient reads your email. And it tells you how long after you sent it that happened. The recipient will be none the wiser. It costs US$19.95 - That's about $27 Australian. There is a free version, but it has a tag at the bottom of the email saying that the sender has been advised the email's been read. For lots of people, that's fine.
